Another one bites the.....

Look at the positioning of the clearance sign....dead center!

Now look at the shape of the bridge...curving down, and I don't think it is the only side that does this...meaning it is the same on the other side.

the clearance is 13' 6" in the center...probably better than 3 inch drop on the sides at the width of the trailer...tractor will go, but the trailer is square so it will contact anything that is 13' 2" or less.

Who would have thought?

 

Too bad we can't see the road to see the layer(or 2, or 3) of new asphalt that's probably there making that bridge much lower...And aren't we depending on a govt employee to measure and post that?...If so, maybe we should look at anything that close as suspect...

yeas--that driver did absalutely nothing wrong--sign says 13-6---and he is pretty much square under the sign--hopefully the city has to pay for the roof---the amount that he is under--i would say it less than 13-6 on the other side----my guess is that it is probabely about 13-3---how much is a sign compared to what is shelled out from the comanys from repair?

 

Swift has 14 ft trailers too!. but that is a 13.6 one. I used to go around when I saw a 13.6 if I could because I was chicken!

 

I somewhat agree in this particular situation. The story says trucks get stuck there all the time on a regular basis. I'm sure it's because of the 13' 6'' sign indicating the height. You would think they would post the lowest point to the road which I think they said was about 11'. I've never been there so I don't know how much time you have to think about clearing as you approach, but obviously if a driver had lets say 30 seconds to think about it I'm sure the driver would notice the arch and have second thoughts. At first glance the sign is telling the driver it's OK, but a second glance definitely indicates it's a no go.
