That Rate is pretty poor- (Assuming that mills product is only sold within a regional lane) You sure thats a Direct Rate? Think about it before you reply- There are middle supply chains and buyers(brokers) that can cut the transportation rate as much as half before you get it.

 

That's pretty consistent with the rates I've seen across three different carriers. In one carrier for sure, it was a middle supply customer buying the raw coils to be shipped for processing for a major customer, so that would most likely (based on observational evidence) be the norm for the freight coming out of there.

I don't THINK that Nucor does any direct at all. Pretty sure it's all third party, and a fair amount of it is Great Lakes Coils (horrifyingly cheap outfit, hated hauling their freight).

Insurance companies keep raising rates due to lawyers winning huge monetary awards in truck accident cases. They need to regulate the lawyers but I doubt thats ever gonna happen.
