We got stuck in WY. A whiteout hit just as we sat down to eat and now the roads are closed in both directions.

At least you're stuck at a stop, not on the road! Stay safe.

After an 8 hour delay we beat feet as soon as the gates opened. I drove all night through some pretty good snow and was just shy of Wendover UT. Pulled in for a pitstop at the rest area overlooking Wendover and the truck won't start.

I figured it was something with starter solinoid and after a couple of well placed whacks we got it started. But my trainer didnt want to take the chance and called for a reposed :-(. So goes my coast to coast run.

The real pisser is that 8 hour delay is less than we have to go to finish the trip.

As much as we start the trucks, it is probably the starter motor. Got a chunk of armature metal missing or electrically open. If the shaft stops in the wrong position it won't want to start, but tapping on the motor housing may get it to start up. RA won't want to replace it for a company guy until it fails right in front of 'em. IIRC, its not covered under warranty for lease guys - but I may very well be wrong about that.

    No, you are right.

They waited until mine was smoked before replacing. Once it was dead it took a couple of hours for the Freightliner in Cheyenne to replace it. Rolled on and everything was good.

Somethings they are really good about, others not so much. I've been fortunate to have very few problems with my trucks.
