Same for my trainers truck. What really sucks about the clutch is he had in the shop before he originally picked me up the first time and they told him all it needed was some grease.
As for the starter those go when they go. The one just went and compounded a problem we were already dealing with...by ignoring the bad clutch and floating. Not bad from PA to UT without using the clutch.
So, the truck is in with the truck doc and hopefully we'll be up and running by Wednesday.

Back on the road again. Truck has a new clutch and starter and we have a load going from SLC to Oakland. We're taking the long way around since Donner Pass was expecting 14"-16" of snow.

how many miles on that first clutch ?

Better question is. How many trainees on that clutch?

As my second full week draws to a close I am still excited about this new adventure but trying to figure out how to deal with the monotony. I am sure this is just an adjustment.
We started the week needing some repairs so we gave our CA load to another driver and got a new clutch and starter. By Wednesday we had a local SLC drop and the a load from SLC to Oakland CA. From there we got a load to PA.
Miles are still good. Even with the short week I managed to get 1549 miles behind the wheel.
Accomplishments;
Drove through a tunnel. Strange experience the first time with a truck and trailer.
Driven through 13 states.
Managed my second 500+ mile shift.
If all goes well with this load I'llhave my first coast to coast run.Last edited: Mar 3, 2012

If you read, there's paperbacks in the truckstops, and ebooks. You don't need a Kindle or iPad for that - just download a PC app.
DVDs
Audiobooks - download some stuff on business if you think you might want to lease at some point.
Online education - get a degree while you're taking your 10s n' 34s.
Give all your hard-earned truckin' bucks to a casino.
Evening parking rodeo is always good for a few laughs!
Get a bicycle and tour the vicinity of where you're at.
Solitare.
Pick the rocks out of your tires.
Polish your fifth wheel.
Lots o' stuff to keep you occupied!!
