I’m guessing what you are saying is your truck has 6 wheel disc brakes that you take apart every morning to inspect? Brake wear is easily detectable before a catastrophic failure is imminent in how the feel of the brakes changes, in addition to being checked during PM. So no, I’m not going to drive off without working brakes. I was asking for old pros to share the easiest/most efficient way to get an eyeball on the key parts without tearing them apart every day.
Dont worry op. My codriver woke me up looking for the Loves to get fuel. He was in the middle of a residential neighborhood, about 11 miles from the interstate. You wont be that rookie. He was riding his engine brakes too. Next day, drove down to a dead end blindly following GPS. After we un####ed ourselves a second time he blames GPS.
Eh I make mistakes too, just a different kind. He backs up better than I do. I shouldnt point fingers like that. Try to suggest not taking the GPS for gospel. Just keep driving if a road looks questionable, it will reroute.
no i was just trying to by funny actually, i have air brakes on all my 9 axles with standard drums and i ain't going to pull them all apart any time soon which is the only way one can check for proper wear really so one does need to get a feel for the brakes when driving if its usually getting hard to slow down under braking that's the surest sign they either need adjusting or repairing.
My bad @aussiejosh ! Drums have little holes in the covers usually to see the pad material. I’m gonna go under tomorrow when I pull in the bay for DEF and check em that way.
