My wife ran with me for about 6 months. The story is pretty much the same as yours, so I won't retell it. This is a very demanding career field, not a vacation.

I started in 88 driving a straight truck for $9hr. 2 yrs later I was doing RGN work for the same company. $18hr and home almost every night. Any over nights and all expenses (Hotel, meals, tolls, long distance payphone card, etc) were paid for by the company as well as $26 a day per diem paid in cash when you got back.

I was bringing home between $650 - $800 a week back in 1992. That was pretty good money back then. Here we are almost 30 yrs later and unless your in a union or high freight area,.. you might barely make the same. I know guys in Fla driving for $11hr working 70hrs a week. Screw that nonsense.

I could care less about the guy making $40k a year at a company like cr england.

Everyone is complaining about higher wages. Do you really want to see a cr england driver going down the road making $80k a year still driving like a piece of #### with no training.

Higher wages will not make some of these drivers behave any better. Maybe start requiring an associate degree or better training with better work hours and higher pay.
