Why would you start requiring a degree to drive truck that's just stupid, if they'd quit hiring people who've never pulled a trailer until they woke up one morning and said hey I'm gonna go drive truck we'd be a lot better off. You're right that just paying horrible drivers more won't help in fact it'll attract more of the stupid ones

What driver shortage? The big carriers are still packing them into orientation every week, and burning them out as fast as they hire!

Drivers are still a dime a dozen. And there is still very limited room for an experienced (and therefore more expensive) driver in this industry. Everybody still wants the newbie that'll be gone before the insurance kicks in, or the dreamer that can't wait to sign the lease agreement.

And that is how it'll stay until there are more trucks parked in the company's lots than there are on the road.

Y'all gotta understand that increases in driver's pay has got to come from somewhere. And ain't nobody in the office, from the CEO down, gonna cut THEIR pay to pay YOU more. They would prefer to starve you out and free up that seat for a newer, less expensive driver instead.

Exactly they're overhyping their inability to keep a half decent driver for more than a year if that long
