The one thing I'm thinking about though is that you'd have 3 deliver points - one in San Antonio, one in Laredo, and one in Hidalgo. That's 308 miles on Google one way. Since you're already going to Hidalgo, you might as well go through Laredo, but if any of those loads are time sensitive, then 3 deliveries and 308 miles, it could literally take all day, and then you have to go back another 150 miles to get back to Laredo for your next pickup.

well, I didn't haul the cheapie. yah, putting partials together is a real pain in the butt. my original goal was to get San Antonio and Hidalgo off Monday, get Laredo off first thing Tuesday and reload. I did end up deadheading from Hidalgo to Laredo for a load. But I guess I sure showed that broker, huh, huh ?? lol.
You know what ticks me off is alot of these partials are internet related, this one was a sale on Iron Planet.com. I mean, where do these brokers get off making some kind of promise to somebody to get an item shipped for such and such price and then sticking it on a load board ? are they contractually obligated to get the load shipped then ? or if they can't find a sucker to haul it do they just shrug their shoulders and say, "I tried". It seems to me these shipments should be available direct to owner-ops on the internet. the closest thing is uship and don't even get me started on how uship is doing it all wrong. -
Rick, this broker is of absolutely NO VALUE to me ! lol.

There is big mark up on LTL Freight that has terms to be met. It probably was paying $1,000-$1,300. It is not uncommon for those guys to keep 40-45% of gross. He was just trying to grab another $200 out of the deal.

could be. My guess is he probably got a quote from USF/Holland or somebody and there was no real deadline on it so he figures stick it on the board awhile and if he gets somebody then he pockets some $$$. even though it was cheap the math was good on it. I only had the top deck left, other two partials filled the bottom. It was right on my way and I knew I could get a load out of Laredo. As some others mentioned it was little more than stop pay, but stops was all I was really adding. it just really torqued me off when he said 800 then made a dumb excuse and said it's 600.... on a friday afternoon... when I was in the process of picking up the other two loads...
he knew I'm a one man operation and I think he just got clever and realized I didn't have time to stop and search the boards for another part. what a jerk.
