Yes, I totally agree with you. Plus we're talking mobile installations under 20 feet long. So it really doesn't effect how far you can transmit. Since VF is basically the speed that the rf signal is traveling through the coax, no will notice any difference if your coax is 12 ft,15 ft, or 18 ft....etc. it seems like the fine tune videos are what's causing this type of conversations. Which is okay with me since sometimes I can learn something new.

Spook, you said what I've been basically thinking. That's why on the end of one of my post I mention that it's just a 4 watt box, at least the radios I own are. The biggest hurdle with cb radio isn't the radio, coax, or antenna. I believe it's the 11 meter band itself.

Well it is a problem when you have people selling the idea that only this or that coax based on VF and other factors is the only thing that is RIGHT for the radio and getting out, that's what matters.

However Night has the best explanation on what it really means.

Spook, I agree, I have some super duper "microatom sealed" audio cable that was sold for $20 a foot I bought for a buck a package at a garage sale and I remember somewhere reading about it on a forum where there was an argument about using them over Monster super duper speaker cables because they were better but I could not tell the difference when i used them with my old zenith 37-8 radio.

AND speaking about hardline, I got a few hundred feet of it out of a warehouse last year, It is really in good shape but I had some guy when I was loading it eyeing it up and thinking if he had his shack setup, I would give him some. When I started to talk to him, he wasn't sure I would sell any to him, he needed only ten feet of it. I asked him why and he said he needed it for his whip on his pickup. SO I had to ask how much power he is running, he said 100 watts. OK I gave him a ten foot section and he was so happy he had the best coax on earth.

I forgot all about the AntScope software. I just installed it on my tablet and ran a Smith chart on my right antenna. Pretty cool stuff.
