Yea, I love the look. I'm a modern kinda guy, so I've never liked the old school look of most CBs.

Tweaks like the peak and tune kinda stuff... Are they worth it?

Depends on "who is doing it"...On both of mine I had the delta tone knob converted to a variable power knob so I can adjust my DK for my Amps I run...I can turn the dead key down to just a half a watt, or as high as 6w's...

Also had a receive mod done that is sorta like having a pre-amp installed...only problem with that mod on the LX radios, is there's no way to turn off the mod, so what happens, is if someone is too close to you, they sound distorted...On the regular Cobra 29's they can use the channel 19/9 switch to turn On and Off the Mod...Can't do that tho on the LX model's because the 19/9 switch is a button which also has last channel recall.

Usually a basic "P&T" the shop would check everything out, maybe open up the modulation pot, and make sure everything is working and programmed where it should be...

What you have to watch out for tho, is shops that will go in and cut the limiter to make the radio louder...It will make it louder, but can also make it sound like a splatter-box.

    ramkatral Thanks this.

What does adjusting the dead key accomplish?

Problem resolved. I took a chance after some reading on others having this problem with firestiks. It was a fault with the coax. I replaced it with some quality stuff and no more antenna warning. It seems that with firestiks, even according to their site, your wire should be in multiples of 9 for length. So basically 9 or 18 feet. Has something to do with signal power.

When your running some Amplifiers, you set your DK low and let it swing so you don't cook the Amp...I usually keep my radios set at 2 to 2 1/2 watts...

Sorry to threadjack but needed to ask Jesse something.....

    Jesse,

What was wrong with your magnum S45HP?

I have one i got on a trade and it seems to work fine....still learning how to use it though. I will say the stock 6pin mic is squealing and cant seem to get it to stop...might need to open the mic and adj gain. The 4pin mic's work good on it though.

Just curious about your situation. Get it back yet?
