Me too.
Like the old school buses that hung chain segments from the rear axle. You could hear them coming a mile a way from the rattle and clink noise.

I had to jump a T680 off the other day. Hooked up to the posts behind the sleeper and had 14v at the cables, but only 12.4v at the post and dropped to 3v when he tried cranking the truck. Found that the main ground is bolted to the painted frame rail. Scraped some paint off and it fired right up.
Slowmover1 Thanks this. -
Which antenna are you using? If you use a narrow banded antenna it will eliminate much of that noise and make it easier to hear stuff

4.5 foot Francis.rabbiporkchop Thanks this.

Im going to put the stock antennas back on ( top loaded fiberglass) they are probably about as narrow banded as an antenna can be.
-
Have you ever tried those flexible Hustler antennas with the load about three-quarters of the way up towards the top?
-
Yes, I have one that I used on Cascadia, need to get a second one since antenna setup is co- phased, I know Clays sell them, I will be heading down to Texas after final delivery in MT, hopefully I will make it to San Antonio, Ive been wanting to try those.Slowmover1 and rabbiporkchop Thank this.

If I were a betting man I would have to put my money on the fact that the real problem lies with the cheap coax instead of so much with the antennas.Timin770 Thanks this.

That Wilson 2k is over 25 years old. I upgraded the shaft to 18”. Stinger been replaced only once thru it’s lifetime.QuietStorm and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
which antenna commonly available is considered narrow banded? there was a post some time ago about tuning an antenna, marking the whip, then adding a spring and returning. mark the whip again. the antenna with the marks closest together is more narrow banded.
does that sound about right
