well, I ended up deciding to go with a Skipshooter 4 foot or 4 and a half foot antenna. I haven't actually got it yet, but the shop I use is going to order it. The guy at the cb shop was saying that he knew that a skipshooter would definitely show improvement especially in the ears. I don't really need a new antenna because I get out great but we all know that the initials "CB" means "Constantly Buying" and that's what i am doing. lol
antenna question...

If you want to try an open coil antenna, take a look at a Predator 10K
you can get it with a 27" shaft which will get the coil up over the cab it will tune down flat on all 40 or darn close depending on your set up.
It will out perform fiberglass antennas all day long. -
Do you know what the actual name of the antenna is that you are talking about? if so, I will check it out and see about doing that one instead. Also, do you know what kind of price range that it will be?
-
Yeah their called Predator 10K
and they are night and day different then the old SkipShooter.
Do a search for Predator 10K Discount Antennas
I just bought a new 10K Competition and it was under $70
FWIW ; It tuned 1:2 right out of the package, knocked of 3" and its flat on all 40. -
What did you mount that on Friedtater? I'm looking to get a 17" shaft double coil short whip to put on my Volvo.

The Comp is mounted on a FL Columbia with a slight forward tilt of maybe 20*
Everything on this truck is "ground strapped" to the MAX !
Those old SkipShooter sticks were the top dog for many years, back when trailers had metal roofs we would run the stinger up about 2" above the top of the trailer and it was GOOD TIMES !

Good deal. I talked to Kale's distributor ( John ) earlier today and he recommended the K1 Comp for my setup so that's what I'm gonna go with.

Just make sure you use a stainless steel mount stud, that Barjan stuff snaps very easily with high profile antennas.
I have the kind that tightens with an allen wrench at the bottom where the coax attach's(no double crescent wrench's)

Yep I'm getting the predator mount from him also.
