Better yet, how do ya know you get what ya pay for, how do ya know the tech really knows what they are doing ??

Consistent results every time is one way.
Maximum distance between stations using minimum power could be another way.

I just want the radio in my truck to work well. Transmit and receive the best that it can. I may not understand all of it but I am trying to do so.

Think I’ve enjoyed enough of this circular argument. Y’all can have the cb forum. Later.

Quote: "I have talked to four other people today that run mobiles and they all agree, five to ten miles is doing really good mobile to mobile in Mississippi considering the terrain...."

These are people who speak the truth.

Anyone experiencing five to 10 miles in a mobile is doing really good under most conditions in flat and tree-lined highways like in Mississippi.

Indeed, this is true in most states as well under most prevailing conditions, not including such things as high hills and on mountains that might present unusually favorable circumstances.

Reports about communicating 30 and 40+ miles with normal equipment are flukes; not repeatable on anything like a regular basis except perhaps in those unusual circumstances which are probably due to unusual atmospheric or terrain conditions that are fleeting with time and movement.

Anyone expecting to achieve these 30 and 40 miles and who-knows-what additional distances on a regular basis in normal mobile rigs is in for a really big disappointment, no matter how brilliant the tech he/she gets to work on their equipment.
