I agree with Alex. Not many Trucking companies want to borrow trouble for a fresh out of school trainee.

 

With drug testing always disclose what you are taking as it will show up on the drug test, so be up front about it, either bring the medication with you to show it to the drug tester or bring a photo, once they know why you'll be fine. Its when you say nothing and it comes up in a test they'll be asking the tough questions, so do so up front and you'll get a lot less hassles.

 

If you get someone interested in you, ask to speak to the Safety Manager. Send him a copy of your physical where the drug is mentioned. Let him/her decide. Then make a note of it, time, date and conversation. Keep that somewhere safe if they offer you a job.

 

"Sigh" I get so annoyed with this subject! You can't operate a CMV (EVEN WITH A VALID PRESCRIPTION FROM YOUR DOCTOR) with any of the prohibited substances in your body. The ONLY way you can do this is to get a FMCSA-certified medical examiner to approve it. So, you DON'T have approval to take said substance.

This subject is one of the most misunderstood subjects on these boards. You can take prohibited substances with a doctor's OK and a legit medical need, BUT, you CAN NOT operate a CMV while taking them until you get the approval of a Medical Examiner.

Pay VERY close attention to this website and read the words VERY carefully.

NO carrier's safety dept is going to be OK with you operating their equipment with only a doctor's prescription. You will need to get the Medical Examiner to sign off on it first, then it is up to the carrier to decide, good luck with that!

Edit: By CMV I am referring to a CDL required CMV. While a DOT card is required to operate any CMV (10,001) or over, drug testing is only required by the DOT for CDL holders only!

 

I got my medical card about 8 years ago while being on prescription Adderall, which IS amphetamine. They did confirm my prescription with my doctor.

 

Why would an SSRI be included on the banned substances list? It's not. You're fine.
