All of the following is just one man's opinion/two cents...

An analogy to this product seems like a Covid Vaccine. Sounds stupid and pointless, until you're in the emergency room, or you're dead.

It's something that would stop the tractor from rolling over (over 75% of the insurance value of a truck trailer combination) when a trailer is going to roll over anyways.

You might as well save 75% of the value, and save your life (or severe injuries) when a (trailer) rollover is going to occur anyways. All rollovers are induced by the center of gravity height of the trailer being high and/or excessive wind. Tractors can't roll over from wind or lateral acceleration alone, because the friction coefficient of the tires is too low.

Nobody is forcing you to get this, yet; unless the NHTSA mandates it, which seems likely based on stability control being mandated (stability control is $300M economic beneift vs. axicle's fifth wheel $3.5B+). It's the same business model and category as an airbag and/or seat belt.

Do you blame your own "bad" driving, always, if you got in a rollover? What if someone is merging into you and/or theres a sudden gust?

Should we just forgo airbags or seatbelts, because "I'm too good of a driver to need airbags or seatbelts"...?

If I'm driving my own rig, I don't trust who loaded the trailer, what's in it, or the drivers/ "autonomous" vehicles around me. They could screw it up, not me. This is why it makes sense to have a life and injury saving device (axicle fifth wheel) rather than the typical old fifth wheel. There's a $2,000+ annual insurance saving from fitting the device according to a few insurers. It pays for itself immediately if fitting at the OEM, or pays for itself in about a year if fitted aftermarket or on an old tractor.

If you want to be stupid and put your life on the line out of spite/pride, go for it. It's a free market and a free country.
