here some truckers use house locks installed in truck door. The main rule is to use lock from other market, for example US lock on European truck. Thiefs usually have tools for popular locks.

Hidden starter switch is a good idea, but... thiefs open fuse box and jump 12V directly to starter relay (K2 in Volvo FH, Starter interlock relay ore Jumper on Freightliner...). They are smart enouht to do it, and they may open hood and jump starter under hood

You could also relocate/hide the actual starter relay, with the one in the fusebox wired to the electric horn instead of the starter.

Also, if you're leaving the truck for a weekend or longer, depriming the fuel system is cheap and easy, as is blocking the air intake, or as others have mentioned, just taking parts with you.

Personally, I'd like to see a system that doused a thief with pepper spray. As long as it never accidentally got me. :biggrin_2552:

HAha! I thought about putting a 12 ga. with a trip wire inside my house for when I'm gone but I'm afraid I might bump my head and forget about it and kill myself when I come home.

    Text from movie -

-Can you offer trap for big anymal?
    - What anymal?
    - Bear.... no, just wolf
    - yep, we have
    - how does it work?
    - Do you have a bait?
    - yes
    - put bait here, and predator steps here and..... clank!

They wanted to protect new car from thief. cops tried to find thief who stolen many cars, but at end they found man who did it, sold cars for parts and grant all money for orphanages (there were many after WWII).

I wonder how many crooks look at sites like this so the know what to look for on trucks. As bad as giving out info about your truck and or cargo and desdestination over the cb. No telling who is listening.

I thought about this, since I once had a 9ft long Columbian boa. Would've loved to see some reactions from someone popping a door open and coming eye to eye with her sunning herself on the dash or driver's seat :)
