We got killed. ### raped the first week in October.
All the registration cards changed October 1. And you know a truckload of dudes left them sitting on the table or pigeon holed them someplace.
The universal hazmat permit expired in June. Strike 2.
I got, and passed a level 2 in NM October 2. Hazmat. Dude cut the seal and replaced it with NM state police seal after cargo check.
He wasn't a erection, but he was absolutely looking for some low hanging fruit.
Checked BOLS & ERG. Went over the truck pretty good, listening for leaks.
Any advice when hauling HazMat for a BCO?

To the OP:
There’s some really good general HazMat info here. As for Landstar specifically...
Make sure you get your tanker endorsement. You’ll need it to haul totes even in a van.
Landstar has a HazMat department specifically tasked with verifying paperwork and placards. Once you get your BOL, take a picture of that and the placards you intend to use. Email them to the HazMat department, then call them to go over everything. Do this on every single HazMat load you pull. Better to spend 15 minutes on this extra step than to get a violation on the road.
Not every HazMat load requires placards. Some batteries do not need them, internal combustion engines, etc. When you call in they can verify for you what’s required.
If you ask the HazMat department, they will mail you clear plastic placard protectors to insert into the holders on your trailer. This keeps the placards from tearing or flying out.
Make sure your load is properly secured! There must be a strap over every “single” pallet/tote as well as two straps across the back of the load. No exceptions!!Dave_in_AZ and nikmirbre Thank this. -
There's my new NMSP seal he gave me lol. He documents the removal and replacement of seals on the inspection report.

Thing is the only the can doing for running a dangerous placard is if you have all over 1001 lbs as an example all un1993 or a split load where its 10000lbs of this or that. But if you have 10 lbs on the truck they combined with other hazmat you satisfy the requirements.Attached Files:
