Yea that's true. If you google "truckalocity agent" a lot of the logistics companies that pop up are current or former agents that put it in their website that they are an agent for truckalocity.

You're going to have to utilize a little bit of humor if you want to get ahead in the sales game.

nbenjamin, I have the loadtraining info at home the binder, and the dvds. I think I have a good idea of what the class covers. Did you feel the class was a realistic training. I know Dave is big about being a student of the market "rate" I believe in his lectures he talks about calling carriers first to see what they are willing to go down the road for. Is that realistic, or is everybody getting steam rolled by shippers demanding cheap price (because of course carriers are doing it....CHEAP)?

Lol I thought it was kind of sketchy at first, but after reading his material and being in his class he is all about brokering without any liability, and conducting yourself to shippers and carriers as nothing more than a travel agent.

    River-driver Thanks this.

The class is just about the same thing as the DVD's except for having an open discussion. If you have all the materials I think it's good enough. His market analysis is called the "Rate Matrix". Basically, before you start calling shippers the rate matrix will give you an idea of what kind of rate you should be looking for, and it's just a benchmark that will go up and down depending the current situation. You figure out this rate by calling back haulers and asking them what they would charge to back home, or posting dummy loads and negotiating with carriers. After you have an average, you multiply this average by a number, add in your commission, and that's the type of rate you look for. Some shippers have their own rates they want to move loads at take it or leave it, some shippers want you to develop a rate to quote them on. At the very least this rate matrix will give you an idea on how to accurately give a shipper a quote. So far I haven't had any shipper tell me that my rate is too high, they all have told me I am in the ballpark of what they currently pay to move the load.

I thought I read somewhere that he works alot with Dart transport (that could very well be untrue). Assuming it is untrue, when you left his class you started at ground zero correct? You built your carrier base and shipper base as if YOU were the broker?
