Of course they are. My company included. I would have it no other way. It's just a shame that they do it off of their driver's backs without paying them for all of their on duty time.

I have been wondering the same thing. Been on here and on You Tube. Nobody seems to be happy. Really hard for a newbe like myself trying to pick a company.

"any body happy?"
Yep. But I'm accused of being a cheerleader when I say so. -

Driving down the interstate today on I-40 from White Pine, TN to Knoxville, TN and back. WOW!!! All the trucks on the road and in the truck stops. I thought back to this post and was wondering if all these drivers, (I saw both male & female) were unhappy. I know of two drivers personally (friend of a friend) and met and talked with them recently. However, they are both owner/operators and both are happy...and love their job...and say they make great money. By the looks of there homes and by the size of their garages, I know they make pretty decent money. Anyway, maybe the happy drivers are smiling so big, that they don't have time to come of these forums. Kinda scarry to listen to all the negativity.

I'm happy, but on the other hand I'm not a driver. I'm just some dude that works in the office.

I enjoy this business. There will always be things that you don't like about any job. One thing I have found over the years is that people who are unhappy tend to express their dissatisfaction, but happy people tend to not say much. Perhaps you need to go with a company that people aren't talking about.
You will find people who like and dislike most any carrier. Most carriers are pretty much the same. Starting out you need to understand that you don't have to stay with the carrier your entire career. However, you should try to stick around for at least a year or two. The better carriers look for those who don't move around too much. They like to see stability.
If you want to find out about a carrier, go to a truck stop and hang out around the drivers lounge or restaurant. Strike up a conversation with some drivers and ask about their company. Have a cup of coffee with them. -
People are about as happy as they make up their minds to be. Some people seem to work hard to be unhappy. Did you know that it takes fewer face muscles to smile than frown? -
Injun Thanks this.
