Having not been able to stand the 2- 10 day shifts in a truck with a trainer I am back at my day job. Looking at a position as a part time coach driver to get some miles under my belt. The company has Prevost coaches, and pays by the hour door to door. Anyone out there ever do this? Any input is appreciated.

I am very interested in coach driving as well, so I am subscribing to this thread.

I am new to the forum, trying to narrow down my choice of schools and training programs. I will do a year of OTR first, but I want to get all my endorsements as soon as possible.

I did it the Navy over in Spain. Two of us would go as drivers to drive these people on weekend trips. It's alot different than driving here in the states. I'll bet it aged me 5 years.

As far as driving a bus or a truck you've got to look at it this way. Is your pay good and do you have good benefits? Does the company take care of the equipment and not push the drivers? Those are items you want to look for at any company.

If I got good pay and good benefits then I drive a bus too. It all boils down to what fits your needs.

I've driven coaches like that, if you think driving a semi is hard, these are more difficult to drive. You have to be very smooth, know exactly what you're doing, if you damage one of these, it can be very costly.

If you can't stand being with a trainer in a truck, then driving a bus isn't for you, you could have up to 40+ trainers on a bus.

Its not impossible but it is hard to get a job driving a coach. Most people that own them have someone they know and trust get their license and drive them. For example say a country singer like Taylor Swift usually has friends and family/groupies and they pay a few of them to get their CDL. I think mainly because they do a lot of other stuff for them besides drive the bus.

Some of the tour bus companies hire. No matter what I think you need your Chauffeurs license.
