Are there any current Trans Am drivers on here? If so, what is the company like? What is the culture and is it worth for a trainee to go in that company?

Space Coast can be difficult at times for new cdl school grads.
TransAm probably work out ok for a single/not married driver.

LOL, Transam was my first company back in 2014. They play wayyy too many games. The lease program is BS. Transam will try their best to get you into a lease. You’ll be paying closed to $1,500 a week in total fees for the truck then you’ll turn right around and pay closed to $2,200 in fuel for that truck each week. By the time you get your check you’ll be lucky to get $900 and that’s only if you run at least 3,500 miles. Don’t get me wrong, Transam is a starter company that will hire just about anybody. They’re also known as a second chance company if no one else hires you. I did sign a 6 month lease and then I signed another 6 month lease and both times were complete BS. I learned the game when it comes to leasing equipment in the industry. I also recognized that when they wanted the truck to come into the shop for a re call that this was also a lie because I called Kenworths corporate off and gave my vin number. Transam said the re calls are based off of fleets. What I had to learn was once Transam get your truck into the shop they try to tell you that all types of issues need to get fixed before you hit the road again so they can get some of that cash out of your maintenance account that you been having withdrawn per mile. I’ve seen guys hollering, screaming, cursing and not having their telephone calls returned on Fridays because they either didn’t receive a check or their in the negative.

Here are ways they get you to lease. Transam will tell you that leases purchase drivers get to take company drivers loads if they’re within a few miles by you. Transam will also tell you that they have no more available company truck and they’ll have to fly you out somewhere to pick up a truck that someone abandoned which can be in any kind of shape on the inside. This can mean a truck that someone has took a s*** in or could’ve vomited in. A while back a guy name J who was a heavy set guy had told a few of us that a angry driver who had left took it upon himself to click on the driver came just so the safety department could see him take a crap. I didn’t think this was funny at the time. I took this very serious the same way I noticed how many barbed wire fences surround their facilities in Rockwall, TX and Olathe, KS.

The best thing you can do is get 6 months - a year in if you don’t already have experience and then go to somewhere like Crete Carriers / Shaffer. I hope I helped out a little. Be safe out there.

Many drivers can't be picky about which trucking company they work for.

I understand I cannot be picky, but here is the thing. I want to go with the company that has a proper training program. Trans Am doesn’t even have a program where you go out with a trainer. They send you to orientation for a week and then release you on your own. How is that going through training?

You are asking for trouble by having a so called “training program” like that.

The only thing you need to know about leasing a truck with a company is “DON’T”.
