You can find me on advrider.com using my same name. Great site.

I'd love to hang a bike and ride it from time to time but since I am a Company Driver that just isn't going to happen. Since I have 1 day a week off riding is now limited to the Great-Every-So-Often.

If you worry about your bike being out in the elements of the winter there are things you can do to protect it. I used ACF-50 to protect the block and some other components from mostly salt. One coating protects for a year and does zero damage to paint. It's actually one of the most useful products I've ever bought well beyond the scope of motorcycles.

I used to ride year round for 3 years living in Indiana. I didn't have another vehicle(by choice) during that period. Winter riding isn't so bad with proper gear.

You'd be surprised what a bike can do in snow, and not so surprised on ice. Ice can be done when you don't have to brake, which realistically is almost never. I made it down a few long driveways covered in ice in the countryside.

We had an ice storm while I was at work one night and I got off at 3 am. Ended up pushing the bike for about 3 miles that night then giving up and waiting for the salt trucks to come by about 2 hours later.

Never heard of AFC-50. That's good info to know. Thanks.
