Since I've started trucking a few months ago, I've felt like a youngin at the age of 40. The average age of the truckers I see is 50+

I remember all the flack I got when I started at 21 myself. 16 years later, I feel old when I see more and more "kids" out there driving. But the thing is I've met drivers that are older than me, especially the last few years, and have way less experience than me. I love it when the older guys don't believe I have 16 years and am only in my mid 30's.

27 here. the big 30 is creeping. Been driving otr flats for almost 3 years now. Going to take off in my own truck in 2 weeks! Going to be alot different without the company to call with all your problems lol.

I'm 27 and feel that 30 coming on. I started OTR and got my CDL the day after my 21st bday. Don't worry, there's more and more folks our age coming along. The problem is that do many younger people want some kinda glamourous job that doesn't really exist.
On that note, it seems like most of us under 30 guys generally seem to be in pretty good shape. I think it might be a generational thing? I'm personally 6 foot, 215 (almost all muscle cause I works teh gym yo), and in perfect shape even after the last 6 years of driving. Hell, I went to do a few laps around the truck stop once and had another driver my age doing the same thing. Its funny when the old and very large guys make snide comments and look at you like you're an idiot. Is this a fair observation, or am I off base?
Also, the commonly spouted belief that young people are automatically dumber is so frustrating.
Have you met some of the old guys out here? Some of these folks are just plain stupid. You would think someone might pick up a few things over the years, but nope, not these guys. -
Only 25 here but you will take flak when you start anywhere just don't finish that vicious cycle....
