MartinFromBC and JoeyJunk Thank this. -
If you plan to work the same area build a few relationships with the brokers who have freight in your area. Provide top notch service, don't be late and communicate well. You'll probably be getting called again to do those loads. Make a good 1st impression, you don't get a 2nd chance

I've worked at a handful of brokerages the past few years, each different sizes/structures. I'm currently at R+L Global and feel like our carrier team and at least the SE Region account reps all treat carriers better than most places I've been...is that how y'all are feeling?
I know my team tries to book repeat carriers on their consistent lanes and will definitely pay more if someone has more predictable capacity. I also feel like RLG pays carriers pretty well (I think stats say we're $200-$300 above market ♀️). Was curious to get some feed back.
My other experience:
- FSL Group - terrible, didn't pay carriers, mis-spent funds, and cut their workforce by 70+% and stopped 401k match cause they couldn't manage money.
- CAT Global - one of my favorite jobs, never heard a sideways word from the brokers to the carriers, and we had the most "regular" carriers for our loads than anywhere I've ever worked before or since.
- LEI - tiny nobody broker, also failed to manage money or pay their carriers.
- TQL - this company can burn. I got stellar training but also a case of professional burnout, identity crisis, workplace PTSD, 2 lawsuits, and an addiction to Vyvanse before I got out of there..Midwest Trucker Thanks this.
