if you had been a "desk jockey" for all those years, try working at any local auto or truck dealership, behind either the parts counter or service desk. since you have computer skills, you would be able to learn the ADAP or whatever program they have. jobs in dealerships can pay decent wages with benefits. if you are a "personable type of person" you would work well behind the service desk, making sales of services. even the parts counter guy makes added sales in parts needed for a particular job.
many of the dealership jobs behind a counter are trainee openings as well.
even the local PepBoys, NAPA, AutoZone, etc.
Any hope? Should I give it a shot?
