You would have to ask a otr driver who uses reserved spots, or call TA, pilot, loves, flying J, petro... (some of the bigger names in truck stops)

Yep. Most drivers just sit there in the cab then complain about the way the trailer is loaded. Good drivers get out of the truck and have it loaded their way.

An app with (web based) where a user could input location history (manually or via GPX export) and could share with other family members so they could visually see your route history [over a given period of time] that would "drive in high speed" the routes leaving a vanishing trail.

Kids would get a kick out if it, and some family members would have their mind blown seeing [graphically on a map] what a 48 state OTR driver sees in a month.

Google or Garmin or Rand McNally may and should provide such a utility but I've not seen anything that will plot a path with vanishing trail. This would be a very complex endeavor requiring extensive mapping experience and unrestricted access to current digital maps so I guess never mind unless you work at Google Maps

What is needed is to get rid of this idea that we need something when we don't.

I got one, kinda a business idea mixed with a app. Food, eating healthy, and shelf life of food is a big problem. If there was a business with app, where you could order say 3 to 8 days worth of pre prepared meals, actually healthy and fresh, and have them delivered to the truck at a truck stop... hmmm......

I believe you can share your location history with Google+ which can be accessed by anyone you allow. I haven't tried it myself.

If you have an Android phone, go to Settings, Location, Google Location History, then Manage Activities to get an idea of what they might see. Pretty neat.

So what would family/kids see -a series of images along the way as in google maps images? Or just the trail along the way on a map?
