Everything that is suggested seems to be very involved with getting people who own businesses on board and involved, which they won't unless there is money up front.
My question for the OP, are you a driver? -

Just some quick ideas....
App for places you can stop and let your dog out
Logbook app that is easily editable--like drag and drop--printable, and emailable
App that keeps IFTA logs--mileage covered in each state automatically
App that rates bathrooms, showers, clothes washing, food, etc.
App for keeping track of oil changes, tire maintenance, filter changes, trailer inspections, etc.
App for making a video diary that you can easily upload to YouTube
App that contains trucker tips -- adjusting brakes, weight and balance, best window cleaner, etc.
Oh, and I never download apps that have permissions that want to auto-start, keep the phone awake, read my phonebook, make calls, ID accounts, or does recreational proctological exploration.osan and street beater Thank this. -

I know some of you have a hatred of Google, but Google offers easy reviews [already] of virtually any/all shippers and receivers as well as hotels. It's already integrated into your phone/location/map so you don't have to dig around to find the appropriate business. I guarantee Google will have more reviews of any shipper or receiver then you might be able to find on Yelp or other. Granted they are typically ONLY negative reviews, but this is the case with any review outlet. I often get accurate and meaningful and helpful reviews on Google such as overnight parking situation, etc.
Example:
Many of the apps I use that show "hotels with truck parking" have mostly accurate data, however, they often list hotels that are supposed to be truck friendly, but in fact aren't. I find myself having to use it as an initial reference, then have to go to chain web site or Google to verify that there is in fact truck parking, not bobtail parking along the outer edge.
