Well I’ve been paying my own personal lumper for the last 2 months….but the other day when turning my paperwork in. I noticed on the rate con that the carrier is responsible for lumpers but if provided a lumper receipt it would be reimbursed. Just seeing if anyone was familiar with the situation.

This is why I always said people should maybe get just a little company driving experience to learn basic trucking stuff before diving head long into the business, getting taken for a ride and learning the expensive way.

I always called BS on cheap $150 TONU being an "industry standard". That's a broker lie. But lumper reimbursement - it's a customer expense that is always reimbursed to company drivers, leased operators, independents... with a valid receipt. A true "industry standard" if you will.

Thanks yea I’m 4 years in as a driver I did 3 with company doing no touch freight, then I did contract work with drop and hook container work for a short while. I got my authority the beginning of this year. I’m decently knowledged as far as finances and compliance and the regular ins and outs. Just needed some clear feedback in the lumper situation, bc the broker is standing on they don’t reimburse, so should I send my lumper receipts to the actual customer?

The broker is your customer and I've never heard of anyone not reimbursing for lumpers before. It's pretty much a given that everyone reimburses lumpers. Your broker is pocketing that reimbursement from his customer for his own profit. I don't mind fronting the money for lumpers but if someone ever told me they don't reimburse lumper fees they'd be looking for another truck driver to haul their freight.

    Vampire Thanks this.
