Solo drivers from Troy terminal usually will go to Laredo. I went to El Paso in January, seems like I go there about once a year, I have not been to Mission recently but you could get a rare load there. There is only certain fuel stops and routes you have to stay on. There is prepass and E-ZPass but you are not supposed to go on any toll roads without authorization except IL or NY. The mentor part is in one truck, this program might be suspended right now not sure. Health insurance is $90 a week for single kind of expensive, I think it's PPO . There is just copays not deductible. As a solo driver you don't get a new truck, will be at least a year old but could be 3 years old . They are slow 65 mph . These trucks are all automatic and have a lot of fuel saving stuff on them. They take some getting used to if you come from an old school type truck. They have APU, refrigerators and SiriusXM. The thing I really don't like is the super single tires. I had another one blow a few days ago, and you are stranded on the side of the road . Sometimes you have to run at night, and they expect you to take 10 hr break only. D+H is about 50%. Usually will have a couple pick ups when you leave MI. Then drop in Laredo. Usually next load will be preloaded at terminal but sometimes will go somewhere and do a live load. There isn't that many heavy loads, average weight is 25-30k.
I have been here almost 6 years .

For the health insurance actually it's $80 a week and there is deductible for some things, kind of complicated. Everything I've used it for so far I didn't have a deductible

Been out here 24 years, so insurance is an important issue. More concerned with coverage vs cost.

Sounds like the mentor program is mainly for newbies. Not looking for someone half my age looking over my shoulder.

I’ve been on the opposite end of the automobile supply chain (car hauling) my whole career running 40+ states & Canada. Looking for a “milk run” for a few years to coast into retirement. It’s gotta be easier than being stuck on the Cross-Bronx or loading in rain, snow & heat. The job takes a lot outta you physically. Typically, we run 80k+, so not having to dodge scales a plus in my book. I kinda figured OK turnpike and Austin bypass would be a no-no.

Age of truck not important, just would like a chance at newer model Cascadia (‘18 & up). New trucks aren’t new for long. Would rather have something trouble free. Sounds like they’re well equipped.

I like what I hear. I appreciate all your input. Will keep an eye on you & this thread. Thanks again.

Be prepared for a bit of micromanaging and a company shop that half arse its way through write ups. This criticism comes from a disgruntled former employee. Lots of good points but I thought the negative out weighs the positive. Your mileage may vary.
