Not yet. But I think I'd rather keep the one I've got till I can get a new one (if possible).

I have not looked inside, but all the new ones (since January) are being equipt with APUs. The ones before have battery pack APUs, but they don't work very good. Hence, going back to regular APUs.

I have since bought water proof gloves, knee high rubber boots and a water proof jacket just for chain up/down. I don't know if they work, since I bought them, I haven't had to chain... I call it chain proofing my truck. I keep that stuff in ther 24/7 365[/QUOTE]

i done alot of chaining. seems like it takes forever still
i like the carhard rain jacket and rain paints. you do a better job with the chains if your not cold and wet

Flying in for a interview with Polly on the 13Th . Had a week staying in a motel due to truck braking down. They still didn't fix everything. do you have a driver number or something so you can get a recruiting bonus since it is this forum that made me want to switch.

Welcome aboard! For a reference my name is John Rentz,Jr. FYI, I've stated this before, while I do appreciate the bonus, that is not why I post.

My app for rehire went into the mail August 11th. It would be great to be back at Poly, especially now that I've been reading these posts and having my memory refreshed on just how excellent the OTR job is there compared with most any other OTR job I've ever heard of!

When I left in January (long story) I made it clear to Pat that it had nothing at all to do with Poly as a company, any of Poly's personnel, or how Poly treats its drivers. To the contrary, it had everything to do with trucking itself.

It's been awesome having several months off and testing the waters with some non-trucking pursuits, but now that that's behind me, I'm sincerely looking forward to (hopefully) rejoining Poly sometime soon. I know it takes awhile for them to process the app - especially for rehires - so I'm planning to give it until January (assuming that some better OTR job doesn't miraculously appear in the meantime) to hear back from them.

My 13 months there (Dec 2010 - Jan 2012) went great, except there is one non-preventable "blemish" in July 2011: after pulling ahead and parking after fueling at the Dandridge, TN Pilot, while I was walking into the fuel stop to get the receipt, a driver turned too sharply on his way out and put a sizable crunch in the Poly truck's body, in the vicinity of the left headlight.

The back of the Poly trailer was parked so close to the fuel pumps, I just barely had room to walk between it and the truck fueling behind me (I'm a pretty skinny guy too), so there wasn't much else I could have done short of not pulling ahead in the first place. In addition to getting that trailer positioning on video, I was also careful to capture the position of the other driver's cab relative to the far curb. He could have pulled at least 8 to 10 feet wider than he actually chose to! He didn't use the space!

One of my favorite "little personal rules" of 18-wheeler driving is: Depending on the situation, if there aren't any downsides to it, you might as well take all the space available, even if it's way more than necessary.

So does anyone think I will ever pull ahead again at that fuel stop? No way! As much as I hate to not pull ahead - for the sake of the driver behind me - this was the last time I'll ever pull ahead at that particular fuel stop. Next time, the truck behind me will just have to wait.
