I just got hired by them and even though I just completed orietation and start training shortly, I am getting bad vibes from them already. During the Orietation, the safety dir and I got into a few semi-heated debates over issues. Also, I don't like their attitude about drivers are expendable. As the saying goes: a job is a job until you find something better....who knows I may like them, but I don't have a very good first impression of them.:biggrin_25513:

Ruan has multiple terminals - each specializing in their own product types. Each terminal has their own fleet based out of that terminal, and the terminal has it's own dispatcher/fleet manager staff.

For example: Cedar Falls, IA terminal does only Target dedicated store deliveries and backhauls. They have two fleets - one for refrigerated foods which is mostly live unloads of pre-loaded trailers; one for retail which is drop/hook dry vans at stores.

Des Moines, IA terminal has bulk products and a home-weekly fleet. Bulk products use either pneumatic or liquid trailers. Bulk products deliver cement powder to concrete plants, no-salt salt to food companies, printers ink out to Nevada and Pennsylvania (occassionally) and "broken eggs" to a different food plant in Minnesota, hot liquid sulfur to various terminals shipped from Twin Cities.

Each terminal and job have unique traits - so if you don't feel happy with the task, ask if you can try something different.

Advantage - we don't use Qualcomms. The only tracking the company does to audit our logs are the fuel receipts off our fuel cards.

I drove a daycab pulling a flat for Ruan making local deliveries. Really only had issues with the local manager. He was a total arsehat. Biggest issue with him I had as that he wouldn't say anything at all to other drivers about leaving repairs for the next driver to worry about. They could've dropped the trailer at the shop and went home. But nooo! Let's leave it for someone else to get fixed after their day has started.

I know. That crap happens at every company. But it shouldn't. I vented a little and feel better for it.
