The posters are absolutely correct. They are one of the worst companies out there. You will get paid but not much. It is supposed to be 64% of the load but they have their own broker company and take 30% off the top, then you get 64% of that. You DO NOT get full fuel surcharge. They are a mill for O/O's. No one stays there for any length of time unless they wear brown lipstick. The number of O/O's that like the brown lipstick only equates to about 5% of the O/O's. They are forced dispatch. Children playing games operating a trucking company. Do not go with this company!

Big difference between local company drivers and O/O's.

We have a driver that just came from there. Said he got tired of being behind the scales. Said his CSA can't take any more hits from them.

I started out 3 years ago as a driver for Tom Joy & Sons and stayed with Transcorr through the merger. As a company driver, i'll say they're firmly average compared to other companies. OTR is .40 to .42 a mile. Local is $15-$18/hr. I don't see many O/O's sticking around all the old Tom Joy drivers have gone on to work for Veriha in Menomonee, MI. But then again, all the old "money routes" have really disappeared across the board for everyone...They do pay promptly. Freight=no touch. Dry van only, no reefer or flatbed. Loads are mostly paper products. Their service department is small and all 600 trucks need to deal with corporate in Indianapolis to get anything done. Some O/O's have been happy with the expensive weekly service escrow plan on their lease trucks. Others, not so much. They're a small, cash-rich company that absorbs other smaller companies and seems to have stretched itself a little thin service-wise. On the other hand, they have hundreds of new accounts and are constantly growing into new markets so solvency is not an issue. They will keep you busy with almost zero 'waiting for next load time' in my 3 years. They get you home when you need to. Their main issue these days is the health insurance, which has gone up and up with benefits going down but it seems like par for this industry with all the overweight and out of shape policy holders on the dole. Maybe TC could do a little better with incentives for keeping drivers healthy? The company is buying new trucks for company drivers to replace it's aging fleet. Their FMCSA rating? That's up to the drivers and I don't see any corners cut from the HR department so don't know any insight to offer there. They use electronic logs and will not force a driver to dispatch illegally. Overall, i'm voting with my feet and have stuck it out but like everyone, i've always got my eye out for greener pastures which I have yet to find, even with a spotless record and good job history. So it's not that bad. They have locations in Indy, St. Louis, Florida, Georgia and smaller satellite locations through the midwest. They used to be midwest-only but this has opened up to the south and some of the east coast for those that want that. Hope this helps.

I am looking to get on with Transcorr as an O/O i already have a truck and have been told by them that i would get 1.00 + fsc for all miles loaded and empty, I was told I will be home every other day and off all weekends, Hauling out of Hazleton PA will apply with them in December this year, Did you get on with them yet and any input from you as a driver for them? looking to get off this JB hunt contract (JB hUNT sucks all your money unless you leave and be gone 3 weeks at a time)

Transcorr is the WRONG place for owner operators. They have bought new company trucks and new trailers. All the high paying loads are now going to company drivers. They are a forced dispatch company for owner operators. So if you like paying for all expenses for your truck and being treated like a company driver but get the slag loads then by all means this is the place for you.

Its now almost 2014 and tgey are still in business

Just for anyone that reads this in the future, if you live around Atlanta the Fairburn Transcorr yard is different. There are NO company drivers out of the Fairburn yard, all O/O and L/P. The trucks run good miles every week and are offered being home every weekend. The Fairburn Safety Manager, JC, is good about solving driver problems, he usually has his fridays devoted to solving any settlement problems drivers had, and he answers the phone to help drivers 24/7.
During the winter storms this year he was even about to jump in his pick up and run to Birmingham to pick up a driver that had crashed his truck on the ic on US-78.
As another poster mentioned, although it's an O/O company there are several people that own a fleet of trucks that you can drive for, and they do really good, actually one of the guys that does that owns about 10 trucks right now and has 3 of my fellow Firefighters driving for him.
