So I'm going to buy a new 855 block and recycle parts. At the moment (haven't pulled heads yet only got a peep through the bottom) everything but the #2head, #2rod, head gasket, and of course rod and main bearings are getting recycled(engine block cracked on the number two piston). I am trying to watch my budget on this fix and was curious if I could reuse rod and main bolts.

Im much more cautious using head bolts since it seems the failure came from the piston head itself. 20250804_201504.jpg

I would replace the rod bolts and reuse the mains if they look OK. Maybe line them up side by side. If any are longer replace them also. I could go on and on why but that is what I would do.

I heard any bolt that gets a torque, stretches a little bit, and new ones should always be used.

Rod bearings - OK to reuse with the same crank.

    Mains - replace

    Headbolts - replace
