Best of luck to you and I am not trying to say don't go there.. I am just sayin if the economy was any better I would be elsewhere(the only reason I am still here is I can get by my truck is paid for and It cost so #### much to just leases when the grass may be just as brown on the other side of the fence)

I hear ya. I've never wanted to try leasing. I don't think I'm disciplined enough to run a business. I'm not looking to bail right now, but I deliver to the Paul's Valley DC at least twice a week. It's hard to nail down a gig that fits between straight local and OTR. It's hard not to notice when GW & wally trucks get the express lane while the rest of us knuckle-draggers stack up in the OTR line.:biggrin_255: I should try talking to one of the GW folks while I'm being unloaded....:biggrin_25515:

Be weary of the office staff at GW. (I can say that bc I was one of them lol) Honestly is NOT at the top of this companies values. Talk to drivers, and not just one..... If you are looking at PV and must talk to an office staff see if you can find Marcy. She is honest and works directly with contractors and actually gives a ^%$# about them.

    richieryan Thanks this.

LoL If Marcy cares about the drivers she has probably been laidoff in this round of cuts they are making.. I hope not but it seems those are the ones they axed... :biggrin_25510:

Thx for the tips. I agree that talking peer-to-peer with the drivers is going straight to the source. Having been away from driving since 08 and having just 2mo fresh wheel-time is the only holdback for me for now. I don't make the cut on the 6mo in the last 3yr criteria, but do on some outfits 2yrs in the last 5. Either way, I'll be back into the 6mo recent level soon enough.
I'm still hoping that the Reser's buyout will mean better pay/benefits for Vaughan. Two suits with the name "Reser" will be here this week to do their thing. At our big emergency safety meeting yesterday, our big boss commented that when folding vaughan into Reser's operating authority was discussed, Reser's passed on the idea, but commented that their CSA numbers were not much better.
We had the all-hands meeting because several drivers got nailed by DOT on items like: No seatbelt, Lease papers not fully filled out, no glasses when the restriction is on the CDL. We are already at 96% on logs...

I know..... It took me a while to think of ONE person (not a contractor) who would be honest with someone interested in leasing on. It was a harsh realization and made me sad. It wasn't that long ago that GW felt like a second home to me....... what a huge difference a year makes.

Screw GREATWIDE DALLAS MAVIS! I am a freight broker, I'd like to think i pay my trucks better then most freight brokers. exp. Load I'm doing right now with GWDM. winterset,ia to jacksonville,fl for 25' of stepdeck ltl 28000lbs. 1300mile i'm paying the truck $2500.00 for 25' on 1300 miles!!!!! tell me that not a go rate rate for LTL! MF'S are trying to hold my freight hostage, they missed the pick up appointment by three hours and got held up at shippers! not mine or the shipper fault. now this ####### DON out of their Elgin,IL office won't drop my freight until I pay an extra 500.00 for down time and wants it before he releases the shipment? he has a snowballs chance in hell thats happening...ANY ADVISE PLEASE CAN HE HOLD MY FREIGHT HOSTAGE????
