I guess that I am an exception to the rule.
I have seniority to have any run I want of the 65 available, and I choose a long nighttime run.
Easier driving in the form of less traffic, cops, construction, and wrecks, coupled with a more relaxed environment at the terminals because the management is gone are the main reasons.
I don't want, and won't take, any of the "holy grail" runs described here. I make the same money with much less stress.

That's not a requirement at every company.

R+L Carriers may be the place for you. They hire for linehaul off the street.

They have terminals in Canton and Seekonk, if either are nearby.

I agree with you, I'm on top of seniority list at my terminal. We have five high 600 mile daytime runs and choose to take a late night run that has allowed me to see all my kids school activities and coach all my kids when they were younger. I've been on this run for the last 18 years. Sometimes you get off early sometimes late mornings. Sometimes a little sleep sometimes as much as you need. I enjoy the ltl business. Never thought you could make that kinda money in the trucking business

If had to drive OTR ....
I would turn the keys in and find another field
For one I have a family to raise and too many responsibility to be gone all the time And two there's no money in OTR for raising a family
... It's a good fit for those who are single and no bills to pay, they can stack some money away for a semi if they feel like this will be their lifestyle
