DOT foods. You'll need tanker and hazmat endorsements.

Well the journey begins in 5 days. Last day of work is tomorrow and then I will be heading to Medford, WI, J. Bauer Trucking, on Sunday to start my one on one training Monday. Training on a manual transmission is the biggest concern I have. My trainer has been in the trucking business a very long time and feels it is important to get me my CDL without any restrictions.

Training progresses based on my competency. Once my CDL is obtained, I will go regional, within 500 miles of Medford, with a mentor. Once the mentor and I feel I’m ready for a truck, I will go solo OTR. All Volvo fleet and the OTR drivers typically get the new trucks. :)

Excited, yet a bit nervous. Family not too thrilled of my choice. Focusing on a positive attitude though. I hoping to do a diary, but want to get a clearance from the company to do so first.

Thanks to this forum for the wealth of information and knowledge that is shared. Hope to be able to meet some of you on the road one day.

Good Luck. I hope you do post about your experience there. They're one I'm interested in. Are they paying for the lodging while you're training in Medford? How many instructors and trainers do they have? What's the agreement on the schooling costs, how long do you have to drive for them for it to be paid back is what I'm asking.
What part of Wisconsin are you from?
    Thanks in advance.

Good luck to you on your journey! Your family may not like it now, but they come around eventually. You have the right attitude, and that's the recipe for success in our industry.
