Ok now you got me feeling nostalgic--First off-- cut my teeth on 1962 B-76 w/6x4--still love the old bulldogs! BUT not trading my strectched out 379 w/A/C--POWER STEERING--AIRIDE(Truck&Trailer) And 18o/d--LMAO
Second point--I believe those of you discussing sticking hands thru steering wheel--had more to do with type of truck--I remember the old white compacts(daycabs) where the stick came up and out from between the seats--the sticks came forward with handles next to wheel--also and dont qoute me--ol binders(first transtars also daycab where set up same way--and i think a saw a couple of sidewinders(u-model) with same stick set up--only saw these in daycabs--
Ok Im out--back to my rockin chair LMAO
Any old two stickers here?

There is only one two stick truck I sow in Ukraine. It is old KW COE still operated towing conteiners from Odessa. Stock engine has biten the dust in 90-s but tranny is still alive. Yeah, they say they changed bearings, some gears inside but transmission still works!
It is very reliable design. Typical mistake of early range transmissions (with air controlled range and no range beheviour valve, becouse no electronics was used) is impossible! No one can accidently shift range down in low position at high speed!
I'm too young for these trucks, but old drivers say when they got "new" MAZ trucks with one stick and air controlled range unit they had broken transmission twice a year ore more when someone accidently did low range shift at 50 mph. -
last twin stick i ever drove was a old mack dump truck, apart from being older than dirt and that i had to use a loader to pop start it. it was quite enjoyable to drive like the ol'timers

In 1977, Had a Pete with Juiced up! 335 with a 5 and 4 , It was great!, once I figured out how to shift it!! Faster than any air shift trans! Also drove Log Trucks in Oregon with twin stixx . I still love them

I guess I'm alot different than most of ya'll. I cut my teeth on my old man's 07 KW T800 with a Cat and 18 speed. I really want to expand our outfit and build a W900A or a Pete 359 with either a 5x4 or 6x4. I got alot of #### from old timers about how lucky I was to learn on a nice new truck. I'd really love to get a older classic tractor with twin sticks to pull a lowboy and belly or side dump.

I drove an old, worn out, '68 Pete conventional with a 318 and a 4x4 about 30 years ago. The linkage on the aux trans was so worn, you had to smack the dash pretty hard to get it to go into 4th, and if you didn't hook the bungee from the stick to the dash, the stick would fall back on the passenger seat. I was always able to wiggle the stick around and get it back out of gear.
As bad as that was, it was an improvement over the 1st truck they put me in; A '66 IH CO4000 with a 238 and a 10 speed. The bad part was the suspension. 4" of solid rubber between the frame and walking beam. I always said it was part-time air ride because the tires were in the air half the time. That was a real back killer. -
Ahhhh.....Yes, Most newer drivers will never know the joy of ridin' on "walkin' beams".
