I drove from PA. Had a buddy in class drove up from Georgia. We were in school for training not just orientation. Roehl gave us 20 something cpm for our round trip. They also gave us a voucher for a hotel room reimbursement if we were over 11 hrs away. I did not need mine since i am about 12 hrs out so i just ran home. This was in 2010.
They transported the orientation guys, but us in class had to find our own way. Joe and I just rode together since his car broke down the day we arrived. He fixed her in the hotel parking lot. Lol. They do have a taxi service, but not sure how it runs. I only have used it to hit the movies when i was in Marshfield. Our hotel was also within walking distance as a last resort. I hear they use a different hotel now.
Honestly i would just ask the recruiter about the logistics since things change.
Good luck hope this helps. -
I drove from NY on the CTR border, only 1100 miles or so.....I figure if you wanna drive for a living 1100 miles nothing. Got a stipend for the milage also.

I got a stipend when I drove from florida to marshfield.....so they will give you a little for mileage......since the school was free it basically paid for my room and food while I was there...

hey zolt a couple of guys who were just in my orientation were flew in to Milwaukee out of Hartford, CT and were given a rental car at the airport.

oreintation and schoolhouse are 2 seperate affairs....orientation you are treated like a perspective employee and given the perks....as a Student..your that a Student at a School house with a real good chance of employment with the company...your not considered an employee as a student until you complete the schoolhouse training...(i didn't make the rules)
DocFrank Thanks this. -
FWIW, Roehl so far hasn't treated me "poorly", even though I'm not IN school yet. Good communication to date, and because of this site, lots more good/bad information to sift through.

thanks all great info i got a ? IM FLYING IN TO GARY FROM MACON,GA. AFTER MY THREE WEEK SPAN THERE HOME TIME FOR THREE DAYS WAITING FOR A SKATEBOARD TO DRIVE. DO I HAVE TO WAIT OR GO HOME FOR THOSE THREE DAYS OR IS THAT TO GET ME BACK TO A TERMINAL CLOSE TO HOME?
-
Hometime should be just that...time at home to tie up loose ends before roadtime. Just my way of thinking maybe?
-
Should be actual home, they have to get a truck and frieght for you so it could be more or less than three days, three days is the ideal situation, at least from my experience
