Can any of you Conover drivers tell me what kind of miles your getting? I know Conover is all LTL and the drop pay is considerable but I'm just trying to figure out what I could make here. They said I would start at .37 a mile. Thanks.

Why are Watkins CSA scores so bad? How much credence should one put in those numbers? It was a little startling to see. I am very excited about working here but those numbers do cause some concern. Am I wrong? Am I over reacting? Please help.

A little about me, I have been out of trucking for the last year and a half. The whole CSA thing is new to me. From everything I'm reading the CSA scores are a big deal. I'm not here to flame on Watkins, that's why I'm asking here in this thread. I am set to go to orientation in May and just need some input from you guys.

99% of the maintinance issues are trailers (drivers are too lazy to get stuff fixed

Other stuff is idiot new drivers

Yeah some of their trailers are some of the sorriest pieces of crap on the road. I've had air line spring hangers break on me mid trip and drag along the freeway. (good thing it was only the blue side that severed or it could have gotten really exciting...) blown tires, broken leaf springs. All sorts of fun stuff.

Those springs break all the time, and if you think those trailers suck you aint seen nothing yet. W/s trailers arent new but they're not that bad

The trailers may not the greatest on the road, but they are FAR from the worst. The shops WILL fix any issues brought to their attention, but that requires drivers actually doing their pre and post-trips and red-tagging them if and when a problem is discovered. As far as air line hangers, I've always carried plenty of bungee cords with me, and never had any trouble getting reimbursed for them, either.

Newbee here. Take DMV test Tuesday. I took an 8 week course at a community college here in Va Beach and ended up with a 4.0 gpa. Let me think back in 79 when I went to college I had a woping .9gpa.....Yeah that wasn't cutting it so here I come USMC. Great time.
Now for the question. Is Watkins Good??
I have been looking at several companies but I read all kinds of crap. I was really looking hard at Transam but I don't see alot of their trucks on I85 or 95. I do not want team and most every one wants team and lease. Covenant has you team 6 months once you finish their training. Please help this old man. I have 0 dui's 0 traffic in over 15 years. 0 drug issues and 2 jobs in last 25 or more years. Any help I would really love. Thanks
