Consider this post as me "letting you know".
No problems at all.

all the fear of those x-ray machines is unfounded.
all you have to do when entering a "facility" is DECLARE you have one.
They already have means to secure it for you if needed.
Any real answer about gun carry?

Thank goodness for the Castle Law, and for living in and being from Texas..
-
These carrying a weapon in a commercial truck threads are like:
-
Agreed, but it seems like we get a new one ever week, just like the per diem question... and they all start like this:
"I have done a lot of searching and didn't see any real answers about this, only guesses."
I guess he didn't get all the way through these endless threads, to the beating the dead horse portion. We've easily beaten a hundred horses over this one.BigJohn54 Thanks this. -
I live in cali and most of my family owns guns. But it is almost impossible to get a concealed weapons permit. If you carry it in your car the gun has to be unloaded, and the ammo in the trunk or vise versa. But yes, there are plenty of liberals in cali who would like to outlaw them.
-
I have been inspected while openly carrying my firearm. It was not a problem.
-
Can you give us the details? Seriously, I'de like to hear the story, no kidding. I used to be a city patrolman, I think... back then, I'de separate you from your weapon and see what your attitude was like. If you seemed relaxed and confident, I'm sure you could leave with a smile on your face. If you got defensive and nervous, I'de have done a vehicle search and faceplanted you in the dirt for disorderly conduct.
In the end, you could pick up your weapon from the jail Sergeant and walk away..
As a Policeman, I'll always defend my own safety. As a citizen, you'll always get your handgun back. Eventually. -
Good thing you're not still a cop then...and in TX of all places, you should be ashamed to even post that.
Removing the weapon from him during the stop is understandable and well within reason...but getting physical just because he was nervous and defensive??? Geez...
I don't hold it against any LEO's when they take steps to ensure their safety...why should they hold it against me?
As a policeman...you are just a citizen too.
And to answer the OP's question....I've answered that question until I'm tired of answering it...but if you really wanna know...search my posts, its in there MANY times.
I have also been inspected while carrying...its never been any trouble. Hell, one time the DOT guy (KY) was so interested in my gun (custom 1911) that he never did inspect my truck...LOL...he was trying to buy my gun.Last edited: Jul 31, 2011

Please do not post such mis-information as fact. While this might be true in some places it is not for all places and here is why.
In PA you can post all the signs you want. They carry no weight. If I am on your property and you see that I am armed you can only ask that I leave. If I do not leave then you can only call the police to which I will be given a trespassing ticket. I will not go to jail and will be free to leave once the ticket is issued.
Driving though a state is covered under the Federal Law which allows you to transport the weapon through the state properly cased and stored. If you are stopping in a restricted state then you fall under their laws as you are no longer transporting through the state.
I think you have already covered this area myself. You will notice I only speak for my state as that is the state law I know best and have no reason to speak for any other state.
The reason companies do not allow weapons is they do not want to be held liable for your actions. Insurance companies are usually behind this one and require some sort of 'no weapons' policy in order to be insured.
And your freedom!!
Not 100% true. They believe that if guns are outlawed then no crimes would be committed with them. Of course if you are a government official your life is more important then the subjects you rule over.
Not true for PA. We just passed a bill that protects the law abiding citizen in cases like this.
Give bad advice. Great.
Best advice is to be aware of your surroundings and not get yourself into a situation where you would have to shoot someone.
If the shooting is justified then your problems are not beginning. If it was not then you have problems.
So I guess this is why you are no longer a law officer then. You are of the type that we read about who do not know the laws and make them up as you go along to fulfill your ego and then ask the brothers-in-blue to back you up. Shame.
Yeah, the same old line 'my safety is more important then yours'.
Do you know that most everyday citizens train with their weapons more then most police officers?
Bottom line is this. If something happens and your company have a no weapons policy you can forget about driving. You will be fired.
Guns give you a false sense of safety. Will you be able to draw your weapon in time? How soon will you know that you are in trouble? There are so many variables that come into play. Learn to use other devices to protect yourself. I am sure you have may items in your truck that you can use. Keys are one. CD is another. Learn where to strike someone to place them temporary out of battle so you have time to escape. I carry daily but hope I would never have to use it. A gun should be your last resort to any conflict and only used when everything else has failed and there is no avenue of escape.NewNashGuy, Mr. PlumCrazy, blktop-bucanear and 1 other person Thank this.
