I dont think its a matter of a drug test but rather a matter of coherency when driving....I dont know the correct answer for sure.

I do remember of my general knowledge test there being a question about taking sleep aids and how it was against florida law to do so and then operate a CMV.

In a moving truck you are only allowed to sleep in the bottom bunk anyway.

But, do not keep liquid Ny-Quil on the truck. It is illegal. You get caught carrying alcohol on the truck, is like drinking while in possession of a commercial vehicle.

Alcohol is not a banned substance. You can't drink and then drive, but there is absolutely no law that prevents you from having a drink with dinner and then driving the next morning. Same goes for nyquil. The rule of thumb for alcohol has always been 8 hours, bottle to throttle (assuming you drink with moderation instead of slamming shots for six hours)
To be on the safe side you could also store your open bottle of nyquil in the side box so it's out of drivers reach. That eliminates any open container worries.

Perfect example of misinformation. It's lacking context. While you are correct you can not take a sleeping aid and then drive, that's against the law in many states. However, what you can do is take a sleeping aid, go off duty or in the sleeper berth and then drive after your ten hour break.

I used ear plugs when I was on teams, and solo.
I use earplugs over the weekend in my own HOME as a local driver now.

Ear plugs aren't going to harm your ears long term unless you're using rocks or pieces of ice.

I suppose you might be using cinder blocks? lol.

Eat very little while driving, then eat warm large meal just before trying to sleep.
Cover up as much light as possible.
Turn the heat up in the bunk.
