It doesn't. Ive had many trucks in 20 years, several companies, trucks come and go, different route different truck ect. The longest ive had a truck all to myself was about 5 years. Had it from 212 miles on the od. Ran it 5 to 6 days a week, put 400k on it. Tranny tight as a drum. Just becuse you cant float properly, doesn't mean others cant.

I can do it either way just fine thank you and just because you can't shift 'properly' doesn't mean others can't.

Keep rpms at 9-1100 and make sure Jake is off. Some trucks will grind like heck if Jake is left on...you'll miss the match rpm every time.

The straight truck I drove had a 13 speed. I was the only person who could float her with the engine brake on. Others had to turn it off. They still had difficulty. Once had the owner drive for me. By the end of the day. He couldn't believe the problems he still had with her. I told him he only needed a couple weeks with her. She is so picky and quirky, it takes that much time to learn her.
One day I left a meeting in that truck. Floated straight through the first four gear like she was an automatic (with the engine brake on). Owner stood there in front of everybody saying: How does he do that!? :biggrin_25520:

I can do it, but i tend to forget its on... yeah... i turn it off for running up, leave it on for running down. Takes tp much thought to have it on going up. I dont think when its off, just shift. Buddy i taught hates riding with me. "I grind using the #### clutch and ive done this for years! You dont make a #### peep and no clutch. You suck!"

    Ehh... time in the seat...

That is the only thing that the automated trans does, is floating.

You mean to tell me that you haven't seen the monkey down there on your automated transmission? He pushes in the clutch for you.
Hint: He's the same monkey who passes you on your way to the bathroom at all the truck stops. :D

    Lepton1 Thanks this.
