Restaurants are exempt from federal minimum wage law of $7.25 an hour. Their minimum wage is $2.13 an hour because the servers and waiters are expected to make up the difference in tips, talk about virtual slave labor.

when I first started we had fantastic benefits, medical, pension 401k, disability, even profit sharing....taken all away. Since 2008 everything was eliminated. Our wages increase every yr, so does mileage but I am grossing $15k less a yr due to benefits being stripped to the bear bones. We took a massive hit last yr on medical (obamacare) $300 deductible to $5000. Almost 60 yrs old and looking forward to retirement. Not sure i will make it working like this if they raise the retirement age again.

My son is a mgr for a pizza chain and he made only 14k last yr. He can bearly pay his bills. The only time he makes tips is to wait on tables on his day off. Then he splits the tip money with his waitresses.
I think life is harder on the younger generation....no opportunities available anymore.

Been there before, its a trend..... No worries on retirement age, we are safe. O'Bummer is after the youngsters up to about 55. Same happened to me elsewhere. I gave them the bird and bought my own tractor....I mean might as well, didn't have any bennies there and the jubsucked so y not ? No point continuing the abuse...

    Good luck....

I was always under the impression the cryo haulers were the ones to work for... I guess now I know that isn't the case with Praxair anyways... Not sure about air products, or Linde.

hollywood49 and RAGE 18 Thank this.

Our plant was linde....praxair took over yrs ago. Lindes union contracts are much better than praxairs. They get better pay, benefits, OT, bonuses etc... Can't understand why the difference?

I applied for Air Products a month or so ago, don't plan on hearing back, but I did apply!
I wasn't even aware that Linde and Praxair were union... Learn something new!

Some Airgas locations are union "teamsters" just got to look around. How about going down to the local union halls and look for driving jobs there?

How do union tanker companies work? Do they have extra board drivers, on call, etc like LTL companies do? I am going to turn down an LTL teamster job due to the lack of steady stable work.
