I think the takeaway is that Flatbedders like being Flatbedders and will recommend going flatbed. Tankers like being tankers and will recommend going tanker. I personally like driving a reefer, and though I've never driven tanker or flatbed, am not much interested in either one for different reasons. The nature of the differences of each one makes it more of a personal preference than anything else. If you like physical labor and getting dirty, go flatbed. If you want a different technical challenge, go tanker. If you just want to drive the truck and not touch the freight, go reefer. The only person who will be able to decide if you're happy doing what you do is you. If you decide you don't like it, switch divisions. Folks do it all the time.

Now that's funny right there! I drive reefer and every now and again, someone lights my tampon string on fire and I get all bent about the legal extortion called, "lumpers fees" and unload my own truck.Chucktshoes Thanks this.

What are the negatives to reefer beside long load/unload times?

O'dark thirty appointment times.
LOL! My company will pay for the lumpers fees, no matter how high they are. They won't pay me near as much to unload it myself. So guess what I don't do?
