Hello aiwiron, we run all custom built Chaparral Trailers, they were located about 80 miles south of me before they got bought out by Doonan, I knew the original owner pretty well. We just had a company in Indiana build us two new trailers, as Doonan, didn't seem interested in building custom stuff.

The new trailers are ok, but I like my Chaparrals a lot better, in fact we just started going thru them and are replacing all of the axles, air bags etc.

They are a modified step deck/lowboy, I'll try and post some pics, we run a mini spread (7') with 10' overhang, the trailers turn well, but what seems to give new guys trouble is that we run about 8' between the back of the sleeper and the front of the trailer.

We need that room so that when we back a vehicle on the front that 4/5' of overhang we can still clear the cab. The big problem is we do a LOT of residential deliveries and you just never really know what you are getting into.

    Nice, very nice pics.

Hell get me back to Florida once a month and I will toss my hat in, that looks easier than dragging around a lowboy.

It really isn't hard work, just about everything drives on and off, and 90% of what we haul is soft strapped not chained, it has taken me twenty years to develop contacts, but it has turned out to be a nice little niche.

    aiwiron Thanks this.

Rolly, we pay ALL truck exp, all tolls, all bridges, etc, you take the truck home with you, paid mileage, and we pay HUB MILEAGE. We do go to ALL 48 states we no longer run Canada/Alaska, quit about 5 years ago.

We start everyone at 32cpm for the first 30 days, then 34cpm for the next 6 months, after the 13th month you are at 36cpm.

ALL my guys average at or slightly over 3400 miles per week, (we don't sit around waiting for a load) YOU call your del. customers and make your own del. time, so no sitting at a missed dock for a weekend. 90% of the time your next loads are scheduled before you are off loaded.

My full rate drivers last year made between 55,000 and 65,000 depending how much time they took off. All the trucks are now 2010 low mileage "under 300,000" Cascadia Ultrashift's single axle.

You are NEVER over height, NEVER over axle, NEVER over gross, NEVER have to tarp, NEVER have to slide axles or plate.

Hello Rolly, I really have few to no problems in Cali, as we just recently upgraded trucks, Yes we carry chains, but I would rather you just parked until the roads are better, as long as you know what you are doing traction should not be a problem, remember, on a S/A you have more weight per tire.

The trucks do have Parksmart, the heat side works great, we have had some issues with the A/C side but we take care of them when they are down.

My office number is 1-800-453-8067 best to call between 9am-4pm M-F

    Thanks Stan
