Anyone else spot awesome W9 or 379, thinking Mannnnnnn that’s a badA truc,,,,,, awwwwww it’s got a DEF tank. Never mind Anyone with that silverback chest thumping about PeterCars, W9s these days? Check your particulate filter, pull over for a forced Regin. Something is clogged. these days the only thing cool about them is both arms are the same shade of Marlboro reds filter tan. ✌️
sooner or later all states will follow the CA pollution rules and any vehicle with out DEF will have to be junked or retrofitted.. only a matter of time. as it is now, i live in New England, and all my cars bought, have had to have CA emissions yes, i know apples to oranges...but it'll happen to trucks as well
I will go one worse than that. Since I wrecked my truck last week, I have been actively watching for something I can make do with for the short run. An 06 star came available this morning, that would if it is in the shape it is advertised would get me by for a while. The pictures lok good, and I could buy it out right and have my money back in 2 weeks, but I did not even call on it, because of the eld thing. lol
I seriously doubt that, not at least for many years, cali is trying to implode on itself , because of all their regulations and idiotic laws now, the feds are actively trying to take some of their carb power away from them as we speak too.
I broke down and called this guy with the 06, and if it is what he claims it is, I should be able to run it a couple of months taking it easy, then flip it for a profit, but I am not sure I want to deal with it. I guess I could get it and just run it 8 days a month. They are not even enforcing eld laws here yet, but that is suppose to change at the end of december.
All our new trucks are deleted star cars. I drive an old 379 though. I’m glad they switched to western stars. New paccar stuff is junk.
There is a few oo's here that have gone over to the star side, but mainly to get away from the cummins engine. A long time OO up here had a western star dealership here for several years, and sold a ton of them back then, a lot of which are still around. That was when it was still a canadian co and the star was the first truck the 600 cat was available in, so that was a selling point for a while.
The thing is, CA can set whatever emission standards it wants to. They got away with it in the beginning because so many vehicles are purchased in that state. Isn't CA the 6th largest economy in the world, or something like that? Everyone rolled over for them because they were too afraid to lose all that cash flow. Everyone was also too dumb to realize that CA needs them a lot more than they need CA. CA should be starved out of existence.
I don’t even know what our newer stars have in them... one of the older ones has a Mercedes and the other has a c12. I wouldn’t be surprised if we started getting Mack’s since all our loaders are Volvo’s I’m sure he’d get a better deal. My 379 is getting an overhaul this winter. That old truck isn’t going anywhere.
