I would sign to have a different split option though. 8-2, 7-3 and 6-4

 

14 hour days are already to long certainly wouldnt want to extend that.

The problem isn't so much the time frame of the 14 hour window, but the fact it cannot be stopped. Well split sb, but that is so limited as to be almost useless.
Get 16 this week and all that will happen is people will want 18 next. No, we need a good way to rest when tired and not cause us to basically loose a whole day just to take a nap.

 

Scottied is a preacher of the 8/2. Thats the only sleeper he uses, he said just yesterday.

 

I got it. And I did not sign it. Things have to get worse before they get better. Who wants to work 16 hours anyway.

Maybe rates will go up with the ELD

 

We should not be extending our working hours for the same pay, the problem is the shippers and receivers not being timely and on time, if you give them more time that is hurting the drivers more. There is a need for that to be addressed and making driver work longer hours is not the answer. We have technology now which should be used or them receivers and shippers should be forced to supply ample parking for those who are held over 2 hours.
