It takes getting used to but is the healthiest alternative to sugar I think. I am waiting for Coca Cola to release their stevia Coke. Finally I can have Coke again! I heard the gov. was giving them a hard time about it.

We use Stevia in the dried herb form, Truvia, Splenda and Sugar in the Raw at our house my youngest son is borderline diabetic , my fiance (the truck driver is diabetic) and I am hypoglycemic (opposites attract,LOL). We could all do with some weight loss and I am scared of what I have been hearing about Splenda lately. Stevia is the best for health purposes of diabetics and sugar in the raw or fructose sugars tend not to cause such a sharp rise in blood sugars. I just have a hard time with aftertaste of Truvia. But as with everything else this to shall pass.

I am hypoglycemic too and very much understand the necessity of avoding refined white sugar...I have just bought stevia and am learning to use it.....I use splenda and raw sugar even black strap molassas (in my oatmeal) I do eat a lot of protien to help counteract the carbs. I always know when I have gotten too much sugar......my head hurts, my eyes don't focus allot of other things go wrong too.....

I've been a long time Splenda user and thought I'd give Truvia a try'I'd heard good things about Stevia extract. So the other day, I bought a box...
I hate real sugar in my coffee, it coats my tongue and I can't stand the slimy, furry teeth feeling it leaves. I feel the need to brush my teeth before I've even drank one cup. Hence my use of non-caloric sweeteners.
Saccharin... yuck! No more need be said.
Aspartame... ok taste, but brings on an attack of migratory glossitis (geographic tongue).
Splenda... not bad, not bad at all.
And then I open a packet of Truvia... I pour some out in my hand, "Hey, this stuff tastes pretty darn good! Dare I say almost like sugar?"
So I put a couple packets in my coffee... and a couple more in my second cup of coffee... and three in my bottle of Kool-Aid I've mixed up... and later another bottle of Kool-Aid... and another...
Then it happened'the rumbling'the, "OMG where's the trash can?", because I'm about to replay the toilet scene from Dumb and Dumber! Yeah, quickly yank it to the side of the highway!
Apparently Erythritol (the carrier that gives Truvia its sugary look) is a kissing cousin to Sorbitol, aka "Baby Laxative", and my intestines can't handle that stuff either. Wikipedia says Erythritol, "does not normally cause laxative effects as are often experienced after over-consumption of other sugar alcohols". The keyword here being normally.
I guess I'd be one of those not normal people... So, if you're not normal like me, you'd best experiment with Truvia when you have some time to kill and a toilet nearby.
