Anybody here who drives bare feet?

Well I think it just says something about yourself.

Let's say that you are a Salesman and you sell on your phone from home. Would you get on the phone with your customers while you have absolutely no clothes on and sit down and take a crap while you're trying to make a sales call?

All of the psychological data indicates that even if you sold from home if you got up and got dressed and made yourself look professional that would carry over into what you do and you would feel better and have more sales.

If I was a cop and I pulled someone over that was dressed professionally meaning jeans work shirt boots and he look like he maintained his truck and he had a good head on his shoulders I would probably be a little more lenient on him than someone that falls out of the truck with their flip-flops and their pajamas around their ankles and it's an effort for them to Waddle five feet down the road.

I know that's not exactly the point of this thread, but when I see that I just think that's the laziest human being I've ever seen, they're so freaking lazy they found the laziest job that they could find and be lazy and are just too lazy to even put on a pair of pants and shoes.

So again if I was the cop, and I saw someone that looked that lazy, do I really think they are pre tripping the whole truck like they're supposed to? Do I really think that every time they hear a noise are they pulling over and checking it or do they just say I am King fatslob I sit behind the wheel I don't care what else happens because I'm too lazy to even move out of the seat unless I have to urinate or defecate and even then you wonder if they get out of the seat.

Professionalism does have a certain role to play.

 

Lol at dressing "professional" for an OTR reefer and dry van job when you're by yourself 99% of the time.

How many people, on this forum and elsewhere, who complain about what other people wear and even go as far as to call them "lazy", are at healthy weights themselves? All this talk about appearances and how appearances matter and yet, when I look around me at the truck stops, you know which demographic are 90% of the time at healthy weights for their heights? The addidas track suits, the sandal wearers, etc. etc.

The foreign born whites (Eastern Europeans/Russians) and the foreign born blacks (Somalians), along with the foreign born Indians (from India) are always the skinniest demographics out of all the truckers. 90% of them are at healthy weights for their heights.

Now compare that to the American whites, the American blacks, the American whatever race they are - How many American truck drivers are at healthy weights? I'de say only 30% of us are at healthy weights. Maybe even less. We are indeed becoming a real rarity among the trucking demographics.

Now isn't that ironic, that you have (not all, but a lot) of fat people talking down to healthy weight people because of what kind of attire the healthy weight people choose to wear. Lol. But we're the "lazy" ones who "don't care about our appearance" lol yeah ok.

PS - Been pulled over for random DOT roadside inspections and interracted with the cops and DOT several times doing OTR. Every time in gym clothes (gym shorts, plain t shirt, slippers and a baseball cap). Never once has it been a problem.

 

I used to all the time when I had my own tractor (many years ago). Since I got into slip-seat and shared tractor positions, absolutely not. That's not sanitary for anyone.

 

To be fair, lazy is what I think of anybody I see out in public in gym clothes or pajamas, not only truck drivers. Hell lazy is what i think of my own brother when he wears sweat pants around the house. The only time shorts are acceptable attire is when you're going to the river, and then only if you plan to be physically in the river, shorts while fishing are not ok. Now all that said that's just the opinion of a hillbilly truck driver, it means nothing to anybody nor should it mean anything to them.

 

I agree with that. Anybody can wear whatever they want.

People can walk around with peanut butter and chocolate smeared all over their face, unshaven and stinky with clothes they haven't changed for weeks, every other tooth missing, pajamas down below their rear end, hats on crooked, flip flops and long uncut toenails with grime between their toes...

When you see this is becoming the norm, and you think that's something great, that is really a statement on how Society has degenerated. And it is quite a reflection of the person that is saying that.

But don't take any pride in your appearance or looking professional.

Nah, take a bird bath in the sink once a month and maybe every couple weeks brush your teeth. After all, nobody sees you and you're alone so who cares right?

 

i could care less about what any driver wears... but i dont wanna hear you guys complain about getting no respect or people treating you like slobs... Its like anything in life, you get out what you put in... Put some effort into looking nice and respectful and you will get it in return most of the times... I encourage all u guys to dress like slobs. Just makes the rest of us look that much better.

 

I'll be honest, I don't walk around my house in stocking feet. Slippers, yes. Barefoot, no.

I have, when my old boots which leaked, and my socks got all wet, put on clean dry socks and slippers to drive.

 

I figure if i get in a wreck, my wearing my sandals is going to be just a tiny part of my bad day...

But i definitely still slip on my shoes to pop into a scalehouse, maybe it shouldnt matter, but it does.

I have no technical uniform, but back in my early 20s i settled into jeans and a long sleeve buttondown shirt as just what i wear everyday no matter what, when it gets really really hot, i may have shorts on, not gym shorts, cargo shorts, it goes nicely even with an untucked buttondown. Sure its not as nice as a 3 peice suit, but going that far is clearly not an option (in flatbed)

As for jeans being uncomfortable, f off, this isnt the early 90s when jeans meant 2 choices, wrangler or levis. Theres 14 different cut and fit options with varying material thicknesses and colors at the store, if you cant find comfortable jeans, youre probably a closet nudist anyway (no judgement from me, but walking into the scalehouse skyclad will not be a good time for anyone)

 

I’ve never driven with shoes on in the cab, they come off at the door. I laid a load of cattle over in 99 and yes looking for your shoes is an added step when you’re laying on your side. But I prefer a clean truck. I wear shoes that I can slip on and off when getting in or out. I’m pretty anal about the inside of my truck though, I have rugs down on top of the factory carpet and towels down on top of the rugs. Then all I have to do is shake out the towels and vacuum the rugs, the carpet underneath stays like new.

 

Looks nice, but if it makes you feel any better, the next driver will probably trash it.

 

He didn’t. Then it got parked. My old boss would look and see if the insides of the trucks were clean when they were parked for the weekend.
