Do you know that as a fact? Everyone knows that they are in trouble, where are you getting your facts? I'm not trying to start a conflict here, but would like to be able to read what you have.

As for UPS taking over the base of freight, here are some things to remember when an LTL company goes out of business...
The freight base or book of business, whatever you want to call it, is not strong or they wouldn't be in trouble. No shipper wants to take the chance that their freight will be stuck in a trailer, on a dock, or given to another carrier to deliver. There is every possibility they have lost a lot of that business due to the RUMORS and problems that they are experiencing. IF YRC does not stay in business, do the other carriers involved in this fiasco go down the tubes with them or do they stay afloat? Don't forget there are other trucking companies involved. If the other carriers stay in business what makes you think that they won't keep a large portion of it. Also, please remember that there are other carriers out there that will be on that business like sharks. UPS is small package business compared to the type of freight that YRC handles. UPS's LTL carrier, Overnite, could not handle all of that freight even if other carriers picked up additional business. Overnite and any carrier would be unable to handle that much freight with no real notice. Believe me, no preparation could prepare a carrier for that much business. It would choke their system. The customers that they already have would suffer from the terrible service that comes with a shutdown of any size.
For the industry and the thousands of people who had no say in this, I for one, hope they get it together and remain in business. And, just maybe, it will be a lesson to others about biting off more than you can chew.

Swift files for bankruptcy protection every few years, I know when they bought M.S. Carriers out, they rolled over all the M.S. employees stock into swift stock and as soon as the transaction was finalized they filed and alot of the drivers who had stock and 401k invested in m.s. lost it all. life savings and retirements gone. I would never drive for swift and if they were the last trucking company on earth, I'd buy a wheelbarrow to haul things around with before working for them
